What is your favorite love song of all time? It could be from any era; from the 20's to today (are there love songs written today? ) Nominate YOUR favorites, and we will see how they compare to my list of the Top 100 Love Songs Of All Time, to be unveiled during Labor Day Weekend in Sept. So put your thinking caps on, and participate, & remember, if you think YOUR song should make the list, by all means, nominate it, with a short reason why it belongs. Let the "love" begin!!

"No Not Much" by the Four Lads. I think it's a beautiful song and the words are cleverly written. Was always one of my favorites.

This one needs some thinking about. I love 'Smoke Gets In Your Eye', but there are so many. .
Someone said, discussing '(I've got a)Handful of Songs' if you took away all the love songs you'd be left with only a handful of songs!
I'll be back (where have I heard that before?)

You'd better be back, P! BTW, "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" by The Platters was a #1 single (3wks) in January "59 & will definitely make the list.

I must say that Louis Armstrong's 'Wonderful World' always makes my neck go all prickly when I hear it........ but for me there are two other 'greats' in my collection 'Without you' by Nilsson and 'Lean on me' Bill Withers.

FYI: Both "Without You" (Nillson) & "Lean On Me" (Bill Withers) were #1 Pop Singles during 1972. And both were remade into major hits later - "Lean On Me" by Club Nouveau in 1987 (#1 Pop), and "Without You" by Mariah Carey in 1994 (#3 Pop, #2 AC).

These were classic examples of not very good covers IMO The only 'cover that was better that comes to my mind was Poison Ivy in the 70's- 80's ....... but there again all music is personal choice

Not sure what my all-time favourite is but one that is very moving especially when you watch the video of it is Nothing Compares 2 U by Sinead O'Connor.

Too many to choose a favourite, but tah64's choice of Nilsson's Without you is one of mine, and Candy's spot on with her comments about Sinead O'Connor's Nothing Compares 2 U, I believe she was thinking of her mother who had recently passed away when the video was filmed.
Another favourite of mine is Perry Como's " For The Good Times" a beautiful song beautifully sung is my opinion.

Apparently, one of my favorites wasn't even mentioned. I've always loved the song " If you could read my mind" by Gordon Lightfoot.
