Hi everybody!! I'm Carol, 18 from Portugal but live in England, I'm new on this board and I'm a big music and movies lover!!
I agree with Sinatra being number 1, voice-wise. He had a extrordinar voice, it always moves me. 'My way' is my favourite song of all time. I'm a big fan of him and of lots of people on this list.

I think the original list is close. People forget that Crosby was the most popular singer from the thirties to the almost mid 50s as was Jolson from 1910 to the late twenties. Sinatra wasn't as popular as Crosby or even Presley but he had an identifiable sound quality and his interpretations and use of the English language unsurpassable as is his musicianship that creates a seamless integration between him and the musical landscape behind him via superb phrasing. I would rank Nat King Cole on par if not better then Bennett. Ss a complete musician, Cole was better then all as he didn't have to sing to entertain. He was a great pianist. I for the life of me don't know how anyone can hear Sinatra as nasal. Something wrong there. If you want nasal listen to Charles Aznavour

This list is pretty accurate. I agree with some of the other commenters about Sinatra. While he definitely deserves to be on this list, he should be a few notches lower (so should Bing). In fact, I think Dean Martin should be a little higher (because of his Rat Pack "shtick" his voice has become underrated). That brings me to who I feel should be #1 - Elvis Presley hands down. For the people who have an issue with Elvis being #1, John H. Hinderaker, of the Claremont Institute, said it best..
"I am indebted to Scott W. Johnson, my fellow at the Claremont Institute, for many things over the years, but not many rate higher than his "introducing" me to Elvis Presley. I came of age (i.e., reached the 9th grade), just in time for the "British Invasion" and, despite my childhood memories, soon came to think of him as the ultimate in passe; so, I was astonished when Scott told me, a year or two ago, that in his opinion Elvis Presley was the greatest male vocalist of the 20th Century; I had never thought of him in that light, to put it mildly, but that conversation caused me to realize that I had never actually 'listened'; starting then, I did - with the aid of Scott's encyclopedic music collection -, so if you have never gotten past a cartoon image of Elvis, do yourself a favor and 'listen'"

Whether it's pop or C&W I'd place Ray Price somewhere in the top 20%. I'd also move Buddy Clark up to the top 20%. In fact here's how I'd shake out the top twenty.
Crosby Sinatra Ray Charles Perry Como Bobby Darin Dick Haymes Eddie Fisher Ray Price Buddy Clark Louis Armstrong Jim Reeves Johnny Mathis Rod Stewart Nat King Cole Elvis Presley Tony Bennett Brook Benton Vaughn Monroe George Strait Glen Campbell

I am an 85 year old great great grandma. I vote for the greatest entertainer...Dean Martin! Loved that wonderful smile, and the twinkle in his eye. He could sing the telephone directory and make it sound good! I thank you for allowing me to post here.

Hey There,
I am new here, but here's my idea of the best, in no particular order ( But it's likely Frank would top the list anyway ) : Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Andy Williams, Tony Bennett, Matt Munro, Engelbert Humperdinck, Tom Jones, Sammy Davis Jr., Perry Como, Elvis Presley, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Johnny Mathis, Barry Manilow, Ray Charles, Paul Anka, Stevie Wonder, Glen Campbell, Barry White, The Bee Gees, The Beach Boys (assuming you allow male vocal groups), Frankie Valli, and the list goes on, and on ! Anyway, that's the PENTHOUSE PARTY CREW ! The bubbly is flowin', the cigars smokin', the suits are spotless jetblack, the lights are right, the LADIES are SMASHIN' in their evening gowns, and, man, that MUSIC is SWINGIN' ! Let's GO, baby !

Why is Don Henley not on this list? I mean, has no one heard "Hotel California" or "The Boys of Summer" in the last twenty or so years? Name me one artist who can mimic his gravelly-yet-silky tenor, and I will retract my statement. This guy didn't win multiple Grammys for nothing, people!
