Just for fun, and to try to get some more posts, please add your choices.
Rock and Roll has been around for over half a century. In that time, some of the best artists and musicians have died, many of them far too soon.
Assuming that you were sitting on a cloud and wanted to make up a rock group, who would you pick? Choose anyone you like, provided they are dead. Oh, it might be best if you put the group they were in too, unless, of course, they are too well known to warrant it.
To start, On drums, Keith Moon (The Who)
Vocals, I am torn between Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison. On balance, I think the latter as he had such a fantastic and versatile voice.
To write the songs, Buddy Holly. I am sure that, had he lived, he would have ended up writing more than performing.
That's a start. Who can add some?

Who can add some? on vocals, I'll take Nat King Cole, one of the smoothest voices of all-time; as a songwriter, I'll select John Lennon or George Harrison (for obvious reasons) as for a keyboard player, I gotta have Ray Charles, that man could play(& sing) ANY form of musical style! & if I could add a female vocalist, I'll take Dinah Washington or Dusty Springfield.
